Le Vieux Saint Laurent in Montreal

This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in Mont-Royal. They give huge portions, enough to not eat for like 8 hours. Furthermore, it is cost effective. Tables are a bit squished since its a small place. But its all worth it. Im satisfied everytime I go there.

Small little diner family ran. Staff is very nice and accommodating to English speaking customers and accommodating to food restrictions. The only down side is that it is very tight as they try to fit as many tables as possible, so you feel like you are eating with the person right next to you. However, do not let that deter you visiting :)

This is a nice place to have brunch. The quality is very good and the price is reasonable. You can find good variety of choices in the menu for different diets. Crew is nice and helpful. I recommend it.

Good food at decent prices. If you want a huge meal and bang for your buck go for one of the Festin meals. It gets pretty busy for breakfast-lunch, especially on the weekends, so may be a short wait for a table.

great breakfast place is old school, big portions, place has very friendly staff, they have a new menu they put up there prices. free coffee when you order a meal, they don't charge for peanutbutter and jam, like some hipster places, bathroom is clean, not a hipster hangout, and the music is old 80's rock

A very extensive breakfast menu. They have everything! Dishes are also quite large and filling. While not particularly imaginative, the food is tasty and enjoyable. Only real downside is that the restaurant is somewhat cramped and uncomfortable.

As an American this place reminded me of a classic diner. The food all around was solid and did the trick. They seemed slightly understaffed at the time we went as far as servers go.The food arrived in a timely fashion. If you want a big old diner breakfast, this spot will do.

My husband and I came for a visit to Montreal from outside of Toronto. We had a scrumptious breakfast 🥞 at Le Vieux St. Laurent yesterday. (Easter Sunday). My husband and I found this restaurant on the internet!!! It was great, we had the works and could substitute the pancakes for crepes, which we loved!!! The latte was just what I needed... best part of all was the service of this magnificent waitress-Maria who was such a pleasure in helping us find the best selection for our Montreal breakfast experience!!! She was prompt, helpful and kind, I felt as though I connected to her in a way that showed we care about life and what this life is really all about, which to me is treating everyone we encounter with love and respect-I know this sounds pretty sentimental but being Easter Weekend and all, ended our stay in Montreal on a wonderful note!!! Thanks 🙏 ❤️🐣🥞

Greasy spoon breakfast place. Expensive, and the restaurant itself is pretty gross looking (cramped, sticky tables, gross walls/decor). They have a lot of selection, but specialize in nothing. If you want crepes, you'd be better off going to a crepe place. If you want waffles, you'd be better off going to Engaufrez-vous. If you want eggs... Fine, go here. Portions are massive though.

Good food and decent prices

First off, the overall experience of our breakfast was great. The staff were really friendly and we were seated much quicker than expected. However, my partners poached eggs had a vinegar taste and my brown beans were cold.Considering the other reviews though, the overall experience and the price of our breakfast, I'd definitely come again.

Best breakfast on the St-Laurent street. The waitresses are always friendly and don't leave you with an empty cup of coffee. I just love how delicious and affordable their food is.

Do you wanna a well served portion for brunch/breakfast? This is the place. The breakfast menu is diverse but the Festin options (a combination of food + coffee) are the best. And you better be hungry otherwise one order is enough for two.The staff is friendly and fast. The prices are affordable compared to the Plateau area.

This diner was a classic family diner experience with a special that includes soup, entree (2 pork souvlaki, rice, fries, salad, and tzaziki), dessert, and coffee! 13.95! Everything tasted great and their rice pudding is yummy. Nice friendly and fast service.

I recently spent two months in Montreal and kept going back to this place for brunch despite it being well away from my neighbourhood. The big "festin" brunches were truly amazing. The blueberry pancakes are absolutely delicious. The service is warm and efficient and the prices are good.

The food was pretty standard, there wasn't anything special about it. I ordered the egg and salmon benedict, honestly the food was pretty bland. The fruit was probably the best thing on my plate. However the service was good.

I Had a very nice time the food was cheap for what you get like I got this crepe and it was huge but I loved it and I ate it all. It was probably the best food I have ever had. The waiters were very nice and friendly. I recommend it to anyone who loves food or has kids.

My go to breakfast place in the Plateau. This used to be a brunch heavy neighbourhood but the options have thinned over the years. VSL has stuck it out, thankfully. The menu is huge but I’ve never had a bad experience - it’s all good stuff. The staff are amazing. There is a well deserved line up on a Sunday morning so be warned but it’s completely worth the wait ! <3

Fantastic food at very reasonable prices. Their menu is very extensive and no doubt has something for everyone. The staff are also very friendly and nice, especially Annie our waitress. We went for breakfast on a weekend trip to Montreal and picked this place randomly but went back the next morning for breakfast again because it was so good. I can't recommend this place enough!

Great brunch place. I usually get the waffles and mushroom eggs Benedict cause they are delicious. Don't get me wrong they are dishes by themselves but I start off with the Benedict and have the waffles as dessert 😅

A truly traditional restaurant. Probably my favorite down when it comes to breakfast. Had just that meal and then headed to work and didn't eat anything til the night so that means the breakfast I had was the perfect fuel for the day. Love the combination of dishes they have, so many choices. Had the waffle one benedict and approved for sure.

MTL diamond in the ruff. Not a fancy place but boy does the food ever hit home. A true definition of Montreal flavor. The customer service is on point and the food gets to you quickly and literally everything taste good. Really cant wait to go back with the wifey. It would be surprising since this place has been here for ever, if you have not yet had the chance to try it yet....GO! #comfortfood

Great place, excellent prices and very friendly staff. Our usual go to are the breakfast meals #2 and #4!
